RES SEEK LOCAL KINTYRE WORKFORCE

On Wednesday 26th November leading UK renewable energy developer RES will hold an event in Tarbert aimed at gathering representatives of the local workforce and connecting with those who could be employed during the construction of Freasdail Wind Farm near Whitehouse. The event, which will be held from 1pm until 6pm at the Templar Centre on Harbour Street in Tarbert, seeks to draw together information on local contractors and services so that RES can match up employment opportunities with local people as far as possible.

RES Supply Chain Director Roger Seshan said, “RES has a track record of working with the local supply chain to find opportunities. We want to build on that record with the potential investment of nearly £7m in Kintyre through our wind farms in the area. We want to find the right skills and relationships to support our projects, and our requirements cover a wide range of activities from accommodation & catering through to civil construction. This event will be a key chance to discuss our opportunities.”

RES Community Relations spokesperson Ruth Highgate said “We have sent invitations to many local businesses, Business Gateway and Highlands and Island Enterprise are also spreading the word to their local contacts. We have already had an encouraging response and we look forward to seeing a good turnout at the Templar Centre on the 26th.”
