RES Sponsors Tarbert Book Festival

RES, a leading renewable energy developer, was pleased to sponsor the 2015 Tarbert Book Festival in Kintyre. This latest donation from RES continues its ongoing commitment to the area, including £40,000 sponsorship of the Kintyre Way over a four year period.

RES, the developer behind Killean Wind Farm near Tayinloan,  Freasdail Wind Farm near Whitehouse and Blary Hill Wind Farm near Glenbarr, offered sponsorship to the book festival and also attended the finale of the Book Festival – a talk by Robert Mcphail on the medieval period at and around Tarbert castle – at the An Tarbeart centre.

Susan Connor of the Tarbert Book Festival said

In 2015, the third year of the Tarbert Book Festival, we were pleased to welcome RES Ltd as one of our sponsors. Funding from RES allowed us to further widen the variety of author guests taking part in the Festival and was put towards financing those authors' appearance fees. Environmental links in the authors' works included: Claire Hewitt in 'Tree Stories' published by the Forestry Commission and Linda Cracknell in her book ' Doubling Back: Ten Paths Trodden in Memory'. Children's writer, Julie Bertagna, talked to school pupils about her Exodus trilogy and about the writing of her graphic novel on the life of John Muir.

Also, continuing the environmental theme, the Kintyre Way group had the opportunity to display aspects of its work at the Tarbert Castle Trust session which was a particularly well-attended event."

Louise David, RES Development Manager, said

RES always seeks to work with, and benefit, local good causes as part of our longer term commitment to communities that host our projects. We are delighted to provide Tarbert Book Festival with sponsorship. RES continues to work closely with various local groups and we hope to be able to continue to be able to support important initiatives such as this".
