Community Benefit Fund

RES seeks to be a power for good in the communities that neighbour its projects by working openly and constructively to ensure tangible local benefits.

The Freasdail Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund equates to a minimum of £2,000 per/MW installed per year (index-linked) and it is up to the local community as to how the funds are managed and spent.

Freasail Wind Farm has an established community fund which is managed by West Kintyre Community Council and Tarbet and Skipness Community Trust. Click on each of the links to find out more information about grant application periods and how to apply.

Local Electricity Discount Scheme (LEDS)

The Local Electricity Discount Scheme (LEDS) has been developed by RES as a form of benefit for communities hosting its wind farms. The scheme is open to all residential, business and community buildings (including schools, places of worship and village halls) within the eligible area that have an electricity meter.

LEDS at Freasdail is offering people living and working within 5 kilometres of the wind farm an annual discount of £235 off their electricity bill for the operational lifetime of the wind farm, with the discount being paid directly to the electricity supplier.
